Although I’ve been working hard to stay healthy, it’s nice to have a little treat now and then, especially with summer fast approaching! Wendy’s new Frosty-cino is pretty much epic, guys. Honestly, my dream wedding food consists of bacon cheeseburgers and Frosty-cinos (fun! offbeat! different! okay, maybe a little tacky…so sue me).

Ouch

Today’s Favorite Friday is…car insurance. ‘Cause it’s great to have when someone breaks into your car and steals your GPS system and cell phone.

I guess that sounds pessimistic for a “favorite” but I thought I should put it here because it really can happen to you — don’t wait until you’ve had a bad experience to make sure you’re covered!

Instead of a product or website, for today’s Favorite Things Friday I’m going to list some of the little things I love in life (feel free to share your own list!).

  1. my job
  2. tasting the food samples at the grocery store

  6. listening to street musicians
  7. savoring the smell of paper and coffee in a bookstore
  8. my birkenstocks (yes, I’m one of those people)
  9. shooting at the gun range (but also one of those people)
  10. stepping on the scale and seeing a number I like
  11. walking in the rain
  12. tickle fights
  13. our Netflix subscription
  14. getting an unexpected package in the mail

footlotion

Sandal season is upon us, and I cannot recommend this foot lotion enough for today’s FTF!

I’m in heaven

I have an unhealthy obsession with IKEA, but the closest store I could find was located in Atlanta, until now! A new store just opened up in Charlotte, and from now on my domestic timeline will be divided into the era before IKEA and the era after (B.I. and A.I.? I’m such a dork). You could seriously buy me a pencil sharpener from that store and I’d be thrilled. Which is good, because that may be all Corey will let me spend there! ;)

weheartit

I heart WeHeartIt.com! It’s a treasure trove of artistic and quirky images that visitors can rate themselves. It’s also a great place to get inspired for color palettes (e.g. this photo). As if I needed another website to get lost in!

Leaving on a jet plane…

Friday, March 6th, 2009

A CNN Money article tipped me off to this really great site: Gate1Travel. If you’re planning your honeymoon out of the country, definitely check them out! As a general rule, buying your airfare, lodging, etc. in a package deal can be much more affordable than itemizing each one from a different company.

For instance, you can spend ten nights in Italy travelling first class rail between Rome, Florence and Venice for only $1500, which includes plane tickets, hotel expenses and breakfast (link). That’s pretty much my dream trip right there!

Where are you planning your honeymoon? Do you have any websites or resources you’d like us to share on our blog?

EDIT: I just saw that Gina recommended usair.com! I’ll have to check them out too and see what great deals they offer.

If you love to sew, you’re going to love Spoonflower. They print custom fabric designed by you. For just $18 per yard, you can take the unique flair of your wedding to a whole new level. Imagine what you can make with this: ring pillows, table runners, handbags for your maids, chair covers, neck ties, vests, photobooth backdrops…the list goes on and on. Check out their Flirckr pool to see some of the fabulous things people are making with it!

My bank account wishes I’d never found this.

As much as I loooove Etsy, I love EtsyWedding even more! The idea of supporting individual people who use their talents to make unique, personalized items is just fantastic. You can find everything you’re looking for but never knew was out there, from invitations to bridal accessories, jewelry to favors, flowers to veils (Oh God, the veils!)…

I’m definitely ordering this stamp and this moss terranium! Have you found anything cool from Etsy you’re going to be getting?

On the road again…

It seems appropriate that since today is Friday the 13th, the unluckiest day of the year, our FTF should be about something to help your guests avoid getting lost and missing your vows! If you’re planning on including a map of your ceremony and reception locations with your invitations, there’s a new service that helps you create custom maps online for free. (For an extra $10, they remove their ads and give you more options, if you want to upgrade.) You can add your own photos, icons and descriptions of places, and there’s an alternate view that lets you print it out like a mini program! They also have local area listings where brides can post their wedding pictures, give vendor reviews and more.

If you decide to create an account to make your own map or to give vendor reviews, don’t forget to mention us! Once we get a review, we can put ourselves on the map as wedding photograhers in Boone, North Carolina. :) Visit WeddingMapper.com for details.
